Sarah Barnett is an emerging independent artist living in Denton, Texas. She is currently attending the University of North Texas and will receive her B.F.A. in fine arts drawing and painting in the summer of 2018. Her work has been exhibited in DFW galleries for the past four years and she has taken several commissions including three large murals for churches.
Her artwork explores themes of spirituality and religion, suffering and salvation, corruption and innocence through an often operatic and/or psychotropic lens. Sarah works predominantly in oils, acrylics, and watercolor however she has experience using colored pencils and most dry media as well.
She engages with the work from a vast array of artists such as Caravaggio, Peter Paul Rubens, Marco Mazzoni, Salvador Dali, Lauren Marx, Beth Cavener Stichter, Guillermo Lorca, Zdzislaw Beksinski, H.R. Giger, and Odd Nerdrum to name a few.
